Robert J. Roesser, 85, of Lancaster, former director of environmental planning for Erie County, died Friday (Dec. 10, 1993) in Millard Fillmore Hospital.

Born in Buffalo, he attended St. Ann's School and Buffalo Technical College Prep School before receiving an engineering degree from the University of Missouri at Rolla.

He began his engineering career at the U.S. Department of the Interior. He then worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before taking a job with the Buffalo Sewer Authority.

He worked in the county Department of Health for 25 years. Roesser retired as director of environmental planning in 1975.

Roesser was an avid fisherman and hunter.
