LUCILLE VERA MASTRANGEL was born December 15, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to Edgar and Lorraine Neetz (nee Langerman). She was the oldest of two daughters.

She attended school in Detroit and graduated from Cass Tech High School.

Guy F. Mastrangel was a boy from the neighborhood that Lucy began dating after high school. He proposed to Lucy just before entering the service and she said yes. They were married April 21, 1945, at Madonna Church in Detroit, while Guy was on leave from the Army Air Corp. They set up housekeeping at Randolph Air Force Base in Texas.

Upon discharge from the service, they returned to Detroit where they rented a house for a year. Eventually they bought property in Southfield where they built a house and raised 13 children. They resided there for 50 years before retiring to Ft. Pierce, Florida, where they lived for 12 years before moving back to Michigan.

With 13 children to raise, Lucy became an accomplished seamstress, making many of her children's clothes. She enjoyed embroidery, reading and canning produce from the garden that Guy put in every year, and the children tended.

Lucy was a very devout, faithful disciple of our Lord, Jesus Christ and chose the Blessed Mother as her guiding light. She passed away December 6, 2009, at the age of 83 (one week shy of her 84th birthday).
